``It is an honour to be a part of such a precious time in life, and I love lending a hand / ear to help moms and dads make their transition into parenthood a joyful one. My Goal is to leave families with practical skills and confidence needed for settling into a harmonious, rewarding and loving relationship with their newborn.``

Supporting families during the childbearing year since 2000

Born and raised in Ontario Katy started working with families and caring for infants at a young age as a babysitter and continues three decades later supporting new parents through the postpartum period. Graduated from Fanshawe College’s Photography program in 1998 then embarked on a metamorphic journey in life. Katy worked, lived and volunteered with many families and various organizations while travelling through the U.K, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, from the east coast of Canada up to the Yukon and finally settling in beautiful BC to further establish her career as a Doula and Childbirth Educator.  Being away from her own family Katy really saw and felt the importance of family and learned how other cultures embrace each other and support a new mother during the childbearing year.  Drawing her closer to her Doula nature Katy has been privileged to witness and support parents in births all over the world giving her a wealth of information on pregnancy and the birthing process. Believing that birth is a natural miraculous event, Katy’s role as your Doula is to provide everyone involved with a continual supportive presence.

Katy is a mother of three, a certified and active Birth and Postpartum Doula since 2000, a mentor with Birthing from Within and is a member of The Lower Mainland Childbearing Society as a Childbirth Educator and Breastfeeding Counsellor since 2007. Always continuing her education as a Doula and Childbirth Educator, Katy has attended workshops and seminars gaining experience in acupressure, visualization techniques, massage, postpartum exercises, infant massage, water births, breach presentations, Hypnobirthing, adult and infant CPR, postpartum depression, essential oils as well as the Breastfeeding and Perinatal Education days yearly at Douglas College.
